In Search of a Midnight Kiss

If Wilson's mom is in Florida, she shouldn't be toasting the New Year at the same time as Los Angelenos.

She'd be 3 hours late.

In the scene at the New Years' party with Wilson and Vivian are on the roof with Jacob, when Wilson tells Jacob that Vivian hit him, the couple have cans of beer.

However, in the next shot, Jacob asks them both if they would like a drink, and neither of them have cans in their hands.

Just saw this on BBC at around 1am, what a find. Gentle and romantic and beautifully shot this is a wonderful film about love and the way it can chew you up.

It is true : this movie grows on you, it is about love, and if you are open to it, you feel it.So why are the reviews here that are clearly negative about it get all the approvals?

'In Search of a Midnight Kiss', the third film from writer/director Alex Holdridge feels like a breath of fresh air in the romantic comedy genre. From the beginning, it becomes apparent that you've got something separate from the majority of modern movies in the genre, as Wilson (Scoot McNairy), a miserable 29-year old, plans to spend New Year's Eve alone and is caught masturbating to a Photoshopped picture of his best friend's girlfriend, by said friend Jacob (Brian McGuire).

Midnight kiss is easily the best romantic comedy I've seen. I'm not a massive romcom fan, but even as a red blooded straight man, I'm not afraid to give one a try...

Coming from Europe, I always expect big budget American movies to be authentic and original and they never are (even the best ones, that are critically acclaimed). So I was really pleasantly surprised by this indie movie, as it finally presents a slice of American life in an authentic and tragicomic manner.

I watched 5 minutes and couldn't really handle the vibe It felt very low-budget, it actually looked like they were just messing around with the camera? I can't judge fully due to not watching the whole movie, but it really didn't make me want to continue watching I'm giving it a 2 because I feel mean giving a 1 I have watched some movies lately and judged them by their ratings, was that a bad idea!

There's something so utterly charming about these big-hearted slacker-type films that appeals to so many of us who have been there before: directionless, hopeful, longing for someone special to hold at midnight...After an incredibly bad year, some loser says, "F it," and puts out an ad' for a date, because at least it's a step in the right direction.

Wilson, a man almost thirty years is alone on the night of the New Year. He has fantasies with Min, girlfriend of Jacob.

This movie is both hilarious and touching with one of the funniest openings I've seen in a long time. It's a great example for all writers of how to start a movie.
