In his scene with composer Bernard Herrmann, Hitchcock addresses him as "Bernie.

" Virtually no one called him that; those who were close to him called him "Benny.

" When Hitch is finished being shaved in the barber's chair we see shaving cream residue on his cheeks.

When he looks at his reflection in the hand mirror, the residue is gone, but when we see him from the front again, the residue is back.

In the on-set scene in which Arbogast (Martin Balsam) is about to be stabbed, Anthony Perkins' character is seen sitting nearby in drag as Norman-as-Mrs.

-Bates.

In reality, Perkins was not even on set this day (Hitchcock used a female "little person" as a double so audience wouldn't be tipped off to the murderer's true identity by Perkins' height.

) In fact, the only time Perkins actually appeared onscreen as Mrs.

Bates was during the fruit-cellar climax.

Doubles and stand-ins were also used during the shower murder for reasons of convenience and deception.

In the scene where Hitch is seated in front of his TV set watching a cartoon while listening to a classical record album, the piece that is heard, which is correctly credited, is the scherzo movement from Beethoven's 3rd Symphony (Eroica).

However the record album cover that is on top of the TV-stereo console is entitled "Beethoven Overtures.

" Hitchcock's (Anthony Hopkins) final words in the film are to the movie audience (us)"Good evening", as if closing an episode of his television show.

"Good evening" was what the real Hitchcock opened his shows with.

He always closed with "Good night.

" While Hitch is in the middle of a chapter of "Psycho", Alma takes the book from him.

He takes it back but continues reading from the beginning of another chapter.

When Hitch is being shaved, his assistant Peggy (Toni Colette) comments that 20th Century Fox is offering him to direct The Diary of Anne Frank (1959).

The scene happens after the Chicago premiere of North by Northwest (1959) on July 8, 1959.

To that date, the film version of The Diary of Anne Frank was already finished and its first public show had happened on March, 1959, at least four months before the Chicago premiere of North by Northwest.

At two occasions we see the famous Bates Mansion in the background, facing the right side of the house, opposite of how it appears in 'Psycho'.

Originally the house was constructed with only 2 walls - the left and front facade.

When Hitch is in the meeting with the censors, the stenographer is clearly faking the keystrokes.

Reviews

The Girl, the story of the making of The Birds, with Sienna Miller as Tippi Hedren and Toby Jones as 'Hitch' was a great watch, and when I saw the photos of the leading actor in makeup for this story of the making of Psycho I was definitely looking forward to seeing it. Basically, set in 1959, the Master of Suspense director Alfred Hitchcock (Sir Anthony Hopkins), and his wife Alma Reville (BAFTA and Golden Globe nominated Dame Helen Mirren), have enjoyed another success after the release of his thriller film North by Northwest, but reporters question whether he should consider at the age of sixty retiring.

We laughed so much during this picture: Hitch was a funny guy as well as a complete goon in his 'blonde goddess' fantasy life. The pic shows how Hitch took on Paramount and paid for Psycho himself, mortgaging his beautiful home to do so (and his swimming pool, that wife Alma, played by Helen Mirren, really valued).

Tonally scattershot, clumsily zipping between frothy comedy, melodrama and... whatever that was with Hitch's imaginary conversations with Ed Gein.

Based on the book Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho by Stephen Rebello, 2012's Hitchcock is a mildly diverting but ultimately undernourished attempt to put the 'Master of Suspense' under the biopic spotlight. As the eponymous director, Anthony Hopkins gives his best and most enthusiastic performance since 2005's The World's Fastest Indian, utilising his gift for impersonation to assume Hitchcock's speech patterns, gait, and (with the aid of some impressively invisible prosthetics) body shape.

Hitchcock suffers from being a slight film as shown by its short running time. Maybe there was not much to be said about the making of Psycho.

Hitchcock is the biopic based on the legendary director, Alfred Hitchcock. This film focuses on the making of Psycho and his relationship with his wife, Alma Reville while making it.

It makes you wonder if Hollywood has completely run out of imagination and talent. Don't they think of anything that doesn't have a dollar sign in front of it?

I found the first half of the movie to be a bit cumbersome and boring. The acting prowess of Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren kept me tuned into it.

Fascinating take on the production of Alfred Hitchcock's (in)famous masterpiece Psycho (1960). Of course, we all know how well that ended up, so there's little suspense about this particular film on the Master of Suspense, but there is a lot of love for his work and his persona to be found in this terrific 'film about film'.
