Goofs

Dickie is not wearing his gloves while he is making fun of Sam's bullies.

It is not until several minutes later in the movie that Gracy Finney convinces him to get rid of his gloves permanently.

When Mr.

Reiner is driving out of the parking lot before he gets attacked, the passenger-side window is down.

Moments later, it is up.

At the end of Heather Bolan's audition, her hands are in her hair.

She is shown from behind, and she puts her arms down.

When she is shown from the front, she puts her arms down again.

When Grace puts the cereal box in front of Dickie, she puts it where he would get it with his left hand.

When he gets the cereal box, it's placed where he picks it up with his right hand.

When Dickie is getting into the silver Honda Insight, you can see a crew member holding a "bounce card" reflected in the door as it is closed.

Grace Finney gets mad at Dickie for saying "crap" at the dinner table, yet minutes later she is fine with Sally saying that the tree house is "old and crappy".

Sam and Sally mention several toys from the 1980s that they would have been too young to remember.

Dickie, Sam, and Sally's entire night escapade in the tree house is revealed to be a dream of Dickie's after they encounter a spider.

However, this means that the scene with Dickie eating dinner with the family, in which they suggest he stay in the tree house, would also have to have been part of the dream.

Therefore, it is an oddly long dream sequence that erases much of the plot development and explanation of why the family grew to accept Dickie.

When Dickie is taking pictures in his pants, he moves the camera around but the flash does not move.

Former child star, Dickie Roberts is now parking cars. Craving to regain the spotlight, he auditions for a role of a normal guy, but the director quickly sees he is anything but normal.

Dickie Roberts (David Spade) is a self obsessed middle-aged former child star of a TV show called 'The Glimmer Gang'. His latest stunt is to fight Emmanuel Lewis but he loses.

First of all I think all those perfect ten reviews are just ridiculous. Ten stars means to me that this movie belongs to the absolute best movies ever made and just be honest this one is far from that.

Writing this to balance out the negative reviews. I'm not sure if some people were expecting Citizen Kane or something, but this is not supposed to be a cinematic masterpiece.

Saw this last night for the first time. I know I shouldn't have liked this movie -- all the elements of the movie are sub-standard, but somehow...

I normally don't like comedy's like this one. But this was AMAZING.

This movie was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I only saw it because I was bored the day before thanksgiving and decided to see at the $1 theater with a friend to kill time.

I am a big fan of David Spade but he has really fallen off as a comedy genius since his friend and frequent collaborator/comedy partner Chris Farley died sadly several years ago. I thought Joe Dirt was kind of funny in spots but over all pretty disappointing and this movie is even more disappointing.

I remember it was in late 2004 when I first discovered that this 2003 comedy, starring David Spade, existed. It had been over a year since its theatrical release, but late 2004 was when I came across some Internet discussions about it, and it seemed that the film had faced a lot of criticism.
