I saw this on late-night TV back in the mid-'80s when teen cinema was coming into a "golden age" unlike any other, yet it was more in keeping with '70s styles and attitudes-- which is actually refreshing in retrospect, because teen film in the '70s was usually rather lame. Unlike showboat pieces such as "Saturday Night Fever" and "Grease" this film had a more subtle nuance to it, with a character who I could relate to as a small town school kid.
