Reviews

People who are following me here on IMDb have seen that the latest flicks I did a review were a bit of a let down. Due to that reason I went into my archive to pick up an old exploitation that's still not available on DVD and still goes for an amount of money for a VHS.

The story of Jock Yablonsky (Charles Bronson) and his family's fight to overturn the corrupt leader of the United Mine Worker's Union, Tony Boyle (Wilford Brimley). It's a curious mixture of strengths and weaknesses.

In 1969, Joseph 'Jock' Yablonski (Charles Bronson) is finally tipped over the edge when a coal mine disaster is brushed over by the corrupt United Coal Miners Union he firmly believed in. Deciding to run against head man Tony Boyle (Wilford Brimley) for president of the Union, Yablonski soon becomes the target of a sinister murder plot.

The concept is real .. a movie giving women great ideas on how to turn the table on bully rapists ..

I can only imagine how perplexed fans of Charles Bronson were, after seeing at their video store the title of this movie and the box cover art, and discovering when bringing the movie home that the movie is far from an action movie. It's instead a serious drama based on a true story, with Bronson playing a determined (and non violent) man struggling to bring change.

Some of the best movies I have ever seen were either little B pictures or even just TV movies. This is one of them.

This is an interesting movie. On one hand, it is a completely earnest.

I won't give away the ending setup, but the choices these women make are so stupid that they sink the film. Lazy story writing.

I worked at the company that made this. Actually, many years later I went through the files after the company was bought by MGM.
