American soldier who participated in the D-Day invasion in WWII.
Former CO of E Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. On October 31, 1944 he was accidentally shot by a sentry while on patrol, effectively ending his command. He was discharged from the Army in 1947 after undergoing skin and nerve grafts and later became a horticulturist.
