Biography

Michael Turner is a filmmaker born in Newark NJ Raised by his grandmother, Uncle, and Aunt, after his mother passed when he was 7 leaving him and during is older brother Maurice. Michael grew up in Catholic School all the way up through High School. During his Junior year is when Michael really started exercising his desires as a filmmaker when he had to opportunity to take a Film analysis class for the first time. Michael grew up inspired by Films such as "Waking Life", " Man With A Movie Camera, Sixth Part Of The World", and Phillip K. Dick readings such a "Flow My Tears A Policeman Said". By the age of 19 Michael's filmmaking thirst grew as films from the likes of Christopher Nolan coupled with his loved for older films made him want to seek creativity in a 4:3 Large format. By the age of 23 Michael was attending Montclair State University in Montclair NJ where he really started to pursue revitalizing a showmanship level of filmmaking he felt was going away in today's market. His quest to to want to train the public on styles of his favorite films lead to a different way of filmmaking. Michael sought to create narrative experiences as he called it rather traditional act based filmmaking. His idea was to combine the experimental nature of films like "Waking life" with the scale of premium budget Hollywood films. By his last year of school Michael created what he believed was his true first film, This was because it finally conveyed a culmination of his beliefs as a filmmaker over the years. His film which he is most known for takes the narrative story of a film and moves it to the foreground, while instead opting for more character detail to take presences. This approach finally allowed for a fresh feeling film that combined both the old of experimental and the new of narrative filmmaking. Michael continues to build upon this style of filmmaking with new upcoming projects such as "Point Nemo" with what he now dubbed as an experience genre.
