Clark first became known in the 1980s as a prodigy at London’s Royal Ballet School. He soon began incorporating elements of experimentation with costuming, rock music, and club culture in his own work. He founded his own company in 1984.
In the Independent on Sunday [UK] 2006 Pink List - an list of the most influential gay men and women - Michael Clark came no. 79, down from no. 54.
Better known as a ballet dancer and choreographer with his own dance theatre, The Michael Clark Company, whose works include Before and After: The Fall , Would, Should, Can, Did and Oh My Goodness.
[2005] Is working in partnership with the Barbican Centre [London] to produce a trilogy of dance performances, based around the compositions of Igor Stravinsky.
He was awarded the CBE in the 2014 Queens Birthday Honours List for his services to Dance. He is the founder of the Michael Clark Company in in London, England.
His character in "Swink", Dan Burton, got his last name from Michaels grandfather, Burton Clark, who died a few weeks before the film was completed.
