Biography

After studying flamenco guitar and graduating as a composer/arranger from the Instituto Profesional Escuela Moderna de Musica in his native Chile, Mauricio Yazigi attended Berklee College of Music on a scholarship graduating with honors. In 2007, he decided to move to Los Angeles to further his career as a film composer and since then he has worked in over a dozen record productions and written scores for several films, plays, digital scenography pieces, commercials and museums across the US and abroad. Some of his credits are the feature films "I Remember You", "The Cain Complex" and "The day the earth stopped", the music for the video installation "Voces Vivas" at the LAPCA museum in Los Angeles. Additionally, he appeared as an on-screen guitar player in the feature film "We bought a Zoo", by Oscar-winning writer/director Cameron Crowe. His orchestral compositions have been performed over fifty times in such prestigious venues as the Carnegie Hall, the Claudio Arrau Concert Hall and the Municipal Theater of Viña del Mar, Chile to name a few, by orchestras an ensembles such as 'Orquesta Moderna', 'Orquesta Marga Marga', 'Orquesta Sinfónica de La Serena', 'Kalistos Chamber Orchestra' and the 'Boston String Quartet'. Also, Mauricio's music has appeared on ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, Discovery, Lifetime, CW and BBC, in shows such as Dancing with the Stars, America's Got Talent, The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, American Idol and Jane the Virgin. Mauricio Yazigi works as a freelance composer/arranger in Los Angeles, California.
