Hungarian-born composer who lived and worked in England from 1935 onward (4 May 1905 – 24 September 1960). He was killed in a car accident in Kruger National Park, while on a lecture tour of South Africa.

Hungarian-born composer. Studied under Zoltan Kodaly at the Budapest Academy, but began his career abroad, initially as cellist, conductor and music journalist. He taught the first ever academic course in jazz at the Frankfurt Conservatoire from 1928 to 1933. After the Nazi takeover in Germany, Seiber moved to Britain where he remained for the rest of his life, active as composer, conductor and teacher. In the 1950s, he composed some film music, especially for cartoons and short subjects, best known among the former being Animal Farm .
