Martin Koch was born on 22 January 1982 in Villach, Austria. He is a former professional ski jumper. Koch achieved his personal best jump of 241.5 m . Koch's career began in 1999 and he scored finishes in the top 3 in all ski jumping competitions 18 times. He has a total of 5 individual wins, the first one in Harrachov on 8 January 2011. Koch has 23 individual podiums. His medal collection is represented by an Olympic gold medal in the team large hill event in Turin in 2006, 3 gold medals in the same event from the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in 2009 and 2011. Also 5 medals from FIS Ski Flying World Championships - 3 gold with the team in 2008, 2010 and 2012; one silver and one bronze in the Individual in 2008 and 2012. Martin Koch made his last World Cup jump on 22 March 2013 on the large hill in Planica. Then he retired from the sport.
