Inducted into the Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame in 1999.

Jazz pianist.

She remarried Jimmy McPartland in early 1991, but he died shortly after.

She met Chicago jazz musician Jimmy McPartland during WWII when they were entertaining troops in Belgium in 1944. After the war, he introduced his British war bride to American jazz audiences.

She was awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2010 Queens New Years Honours List for her services to music and radio in the United States.

Trained as a classical pianist at the Guildhall School of Music in London.

Popular host of the internationally syndicated radio show "Marian McPartlands Piano Jazz".

(March 2008) She celebrated her 90th birthday surrounded by friends and celebrities at Dizzys Club at Lincoln Center, New York City. She played several of her signature tunes, as well as selections from her latest album, "Twilight World".
