She is the daughter of actor Michael Anthony and actress Bernadette Milnes.

She started acting in parents theatre company from the age of 10.

At 14 she became the youngest member of the National Youth Theatre.

At 16 she was singled out by photographer David Bailey to be the face of the 80s.

She posed nude for Playboy in 1988 in an attempt to shake off her "English Rose" typecast and make her more appealing to the Hollywood casting directors. She subsequently appeared nude in films such as The Hour of the Pig and the erotic thriller Save Me (1994/I) .

After she starred in the play Pinocchio in Londons West End at the age of 10, her parents were so appalled at her precocious nature that they sent her to a convent school in Torquay, Devon.

She speaks French and Dutch fluently.
