Lowell Dean was born as Lowell Dean Gytri, and raised on a ranch in northwestern Minnesota, near Fargo. After graduating in Theatre at Minnesota State University - Moorhead, he headed to Hollywood to become an actor. Lowell Dean has had film roles in "Angels in Stardust" and "Headlock" and had a continuing role in the television series,"Team Knight Rider." In 2000 he was presented with the Award of Excellence - Acting at the Big Bear Lake International Film Festival. He has been married to Sharon Marie Gytri since December 30, 1972. They have two children.
In college, Lowell Dean was a member of StrawHat Players, a summer theater program. Eight plays, including two musicals, were performed each season. He had numerous leads. Theater critics came from newspapers as far as the Twin Cities and Winnipeg, Canada. Many shows were produced right after their Broadway runs. This program subsidized the colleges football team.
