She was a veteran nightly news anchor at a Los Angeles affiliate when ABC tapped her in 1997 to replace Joan Lunden on "Good Morning America" . Sadly, her tenure lasted only until 1999, when she was replaced by Diane Sawyer in an effort to boost ratings.
