Biography

A Chicago native, Laura graduated from Columbia College with a B.A. in Arts, Entertainment and Media Management. Her career began in production and research with The Oprah Winfrey Show. By the early '90s, she relocated to Los Angeles where she added the music industry to her resume, working with Liza Minnelli , and subsequently Red Ant Entertainment, under the helm of Al Teller and Randy Phillips. Laura's list of accomplishments grew when she began independently producing many live music shows as well as actor showcases, including working with Billy Bob Thornton, spotlighting up-and-coming actors at L.A.'s Coronet Theater. The transition from production to public relations was a natural one, working alongside Lili Ungar PR and iAgency where she handled numerous clients including Paramount Pictures, Disney Home Video and Harpo Productions. Laura's entertainment industry horizon again broadened during her tenure at New Line Cinema working alongside top management in the film industry. It was her love of film, television and the power of great storytelling that led Laura to focus her attention on working with new writers. Launching Laura Barrett Management was the next logical step in combining her industry experience with her passion for the well-told story to guide talented writers in launching successful writing careers. Having spent over 20 years in a variety of roles within the entertainment industry, Laura brings experience, commitment and know-how to assist her clients in achieving their goals. Her strong alliances with studio executives, agents and producers in both television and film facilitate this process.
