Biography

Lauma Balode was born in Ogre, Latvia. Her father Andris Balodis, an engineer, and her mother Ausma Balode, a doctor, both support her passion in acting. She speaks five languages: Latvian, Polish, Russian, English, and German. Lauma graduated from the Latvian Academy of Culture and received her B.F.A. in Theatre and M.F.A in Film. Meanwhile she studied acting at The Ludwik Solski State Theatre School in Krakow. She regularly attends film acting workshops in Europe. In 2009, Lauma became part of many productions at the Liepajas Theatre State . In 2014, Lauma made her feature film debut in a Russian film called "Mamie's 3" directed by G.Malkov. She worked alongside national stars such as Garik Kharlamov and Andrey Urgant. She then won the leading role in "The White Book" directed by I.Tropa, which won the "Baltic Theatre Festival Children Jury Award." It was also nominated for best performance in the Latvian National Theatre Festival or "Spelmanu nakts". In 2015, Lauma had her television debut in a Polish series called, "Uwiklani" directed by O. Chajdas. With her performances Lauma has been in USA, Poland, Russia, Finland, Czeck, Belgium. Lauma has always dreamed about working in films and appreciates all the opportunities she gets. Lately took part in 4 of "Latvia 100" film projects in different roles. Got part in new TV series- "Strange Face", works in student films and also dedicates a lot of her time working with children - mostly in theatre performances.
