Famous for having an on-air "feud" with Rove McManus , in which both men made jokes about each others height (or lack thereof) while taping their respective shows in early 2006. The feud came to a head when Larry was invited as a guest on Roves talk show in June 2006. Rove challenged Larry to a fight in sumo suits, which Larry accepted, and followed up by making "short" work of Rove to steal a victory. When Larrys show "Wheel of Fortune" was cancelled just days after his "Rove Live" appearance, Rove started a "Save Larry Emdur" campaign, in which he appeared unannounced in the crowd on rival network morning show "Sunrise" , waving placards in support of his new friend.
His son, Jye,s godfather is Rove McManus.
