Biography

Lambert Wilson was born in Paris and studied acting at the Drama Centre in London. A fluent English speaker, he made his feature film debut at the age of twenty-two in Fred Zinnemann's Five Days One Summer . Lambert Wilson is a Chevalier and Officier des Arts et des Lettres and Chevalier and Officier de l'Ordre National du Merite.

He is half Irish, half French.

Screen tested for GoldenEye for the role of James Bond 007, appearing in test footage opposite Maryam dAbo (Kara Milovy in The Living Daylights ) as Tania Romanova, re-enacting scenes from From Russia with Love .

Was featured in a series of artsy Calvin Klein ads featuring Christy Turlington for Eternity in 1991, as well as a poster ad for Eternity in 1998.

(June 2007) Appeared as Pangloss/Voltaire/Martin in the new John Axelrod production of Leonard Bernsteins opera Candide. Production played at LaScala June 20, 22, 26, 28 and July 4, 6, 10, 13, 18, 2007.

He attended the Drama Centre, then located in the Chalk Farm area of London, between 1975-1978.

In 2016, he released the album "Wilson chante Montand" in which he sings the songs of Yves Montand. The musical arrangements of the 17 songs on the album were made by Bruno Fontaine. Among the 17 tracks, there is "Mais quest-ce que jai ?" which was written in 1947 by Henri Betti (music) and dith Piaf.

For his role as the Merovingian in the Matrix movies, he exaggerated his French accent significantly. Fans of the movies who met him in person were surprised that his accent is much less pronounced.
