Biography

From growing up in a Mennonite community in Linden, Alberta,to acting in B-movies in Los Angeles, to modeling in Italy, to directing independent films in Vancouver, Katrin Bowen has led a diverse life. Katrin's first feature film: Amazon Falls is loosely based on her experiences as an 18 year old living in Los Angeles acting in B-movies. The film is dedicated to the memory of Lana Clarkson one of her b-movie mentors during this time. Amazon Falls has the energy and mood of a B-movie the film seduces you and hooks you in introducing you to the characters, exposing their flaws and the gritty and raw world they encompass. With the feel of The Wrestler and Boogie Nights, this unapologetic film will expose you to the grit behind the glitz in a world you never expected. Amazon Falls went on to garner Katrin the 2011 Artistic Achievement Award for direction and won the best debut feature at the 2011 Female Eye Film Festival. Katrin second feature film the sexy and hilarious Random Acts of Romance a relationship comedy about intense characters in extreme relationship situations -- and the crazy and obsessive behaviors that spring from trying to capture and keep love. The story is paced as an emotional roller coaster, punctuated by moments of uncomfortably illuminating hilarity. Random Acts of Romance stars a talented ensemble cast: Amanda Tapping, Zak Santiago, Laura Betram and Katherine Isabelle. Katrin is in development on two features: The semi autobiographical feature Off Course about her experiences modeling in Italy and Ellis and Louise the epic love story of a couple who met during the war and the pride that almost kept them apart.
