Studied acting with Wynn Handman, who was a protege of Sandy Meisner.

At the time she was playing terminally ill cancer patient Vivian Bearing in "Wit," her brother was battling cancer. She shaved her head for the role.

Veteran stage actress who has won numerous acting awards, including the Outer Critics, Drama Desk, Obie and Lucille Lortel awards for her searing performance in "Wit." She won a second Obie award for "Talking Heads."

Was nominated for Broadways 1993 Tony Award as Best Actress (Featured Role - Play) for Tony Kushner s "Angels in America: Millennium Approaches."
