Karen was born Karen Myrthe Netscher on 9 December, 1979 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She has an older sister and a younger half-brother and is the daughter of a teacher father and writer mother. After graduating from law school she decided she'd rather pursue a career in acting, dancing and singing. After following acting studies at Le Pavegnon and Theatre School De Trap in Amsterdam, she followed an acting training at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York. After several small roles in Dutch TV Series and TV commercials Karen was offered the role of Lizzy in the short film "Set In Stone" by writer and director Bruno Ramos. The short film has been entered in the Cannes Film Festival of May, 2013.
