Biography

Julie Laughlin-Jones is a seasoned television producer and four-time Emmy Award nominee whose hit shows include ABC's "Extreme Makeover" and CBS' "Big Brother". Laughlin-Jones recently inked an overall deal with Discovery Studios where she will be working on series and specials. Laughlin-Jones has worked with Discovery on a number of projects before, including the highly successful "Police Women Series", "My Extreme Animal Phobia" for Animal Planet and "The Customer is Always Right" on OWN. Laughlin-Jones began her career in syndicated talk television, producing such top-rated daytime series as "The Jerry Springer show" and "The Leeza Show"." Her style of conveying emotional human stories with creativity, passion and humor made her programs some of the highest-rated on television. While working on "Leeza," Laughlin-Jones received four daytime Emmy® nominations and received a Prism award, which honors accurate depiction of smoking, alcohol and drug use, and the Genesis Award for Excellence in Educational Programming. With her keen story-telling and casting sensibilities, Laughlin-Jones's career progressed from daytime talk to network primetime reality television. From 2003 to 2005, she served as co-executive producer on "Extreme Makeover". She has also developed, produced and cast such hit series as CBS's "Big Brother", "The Family" for ABC, and "Shear Genius" for Bravo where she doubled the show's ratings. While working with ABC, Laughlin-Jones had the opportunity to extend her creative talents. She was behind the 2004 Emmy Awards "Reality Surprise". She worked with Garry Shandling and the Producers to create one of the most memorable moments in Emmy history. Laughlin-Jones is also a respected journalist and news producer who, while residing in the Middle East, served as executive producer for CNN and the BBC, and ran the Dubai Bureau for Dubai TV. Laughlin-Jones is a native Californian and resides in Los Angeles. She is a member of the Writers Guild of America and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
