Julian Wyatt Glover was born on March 27, 1935 in Hampstead, London, England, to Honor Ellen Morgan , he provided the voice of the giant spider Aragog. He was awarded Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the 2013 Queen's Birthday Honours List for his services to drama.

He is the father of Jamie Glover.

He began acting with the National Youth Theatre.

His performance in the title role of the Royal Shakespeare Companys staging of "Henry IV, Parts 1 and 2", at the Barbican Centre in London, earned him the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in 1993.

He graduated from Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) and became an Associate Member.

He attended Bristol Grammar School in Bristol, England, where he was in the same class as actor Timothy West. "Darth Vader" actor David Prowse was also in the same year there.

He is the only actor to appear in the Star Wars, James Bond and Indiana Jones film series ( Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back , For Your Eyes Only and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade ) respectively. On all three occasions, he played a villain.

He and Michael Sheard co-starred as Imperial officers in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back . Both went on to play villains in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade nine years later: Glover as Walter Donovan and Sheard as Adolf Hitler. In both films, Harrison Ford played one of the protagonists.

He has played General Maximillian Veers in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back . This character later appeared in several Star Wars related video games, in which the role was played by his son Jamie Glover.

He was considered for the role of James Bond in Live and Let Die . The older and more famous Roger Moore won the role instead. He did later played a villain in the James Bond film For Your Eyes Only opposite Moore.

According to John Glens memoirs, Julian Glover was the first person to suggest Pierce Brosnan as a potential Bond in 1980.

He is the half-brother of musician Robert Wyatt (they share the same mother).

He has appeared in three movies focusing on apartheid in South Africa: The Jail Diary of Albie Sachs , Mandela and Cry Freedom .

He has appeared in two films with Harrison Ford. In the first, Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back , Glover plays General Maximillian Veers, a role later played by his son Jamie Glover in Star Wars: Battlefront II . In the second, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade , Ford plays Indiana Jones, except for the opening scene in which the role is played by River Phoenix , who played Fords son in The Mosquito Coast .

He has acted in both the Eon James Bond franchise and the Doctor Who franchise (twice).

He was awarded the CBE in the 2013 Queens Birthday Honours List for his services to drama.

He was on the possibles list for Dr. Armstrong and Dr. Bukovsky in the horror film Lifeforce ; Patrick Stewart and Michael Gothard won the roles.

He and his son Jamie Glover both have a connection to Doctor Who. Julian appeared on the original series as King Richard I, with both the original Doctor William Hartnell and with William Russell as one of his companions, Ian Chesterton. Jamie later played Russell in An Adventure in Space and Time .

He played King Richard the Lionheart in both "Doctor Who" and Ivanhoe . He was cast in both by the same director, Douglas Camfield.

He played two guest roles in "Doctor Who" - King Richard the Lionheart in "The Crusade" and Count Scarlioni in "City of Death". He was also considered for the recurring role of Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart and other guest roles - Ranulf in "The Kings Demons", Sharaz Jek, Morgus and General Challak in "The Caves of Androzani", the Governor in "Vengeance on Varos" and Orcini in "Revelation of the Daleks".

He has English, Scottish and Welch ancestry.

He has two granddaughters: Evie Glover and Ava Glover.

He admitted to Gary Russell on the DVD commentary for "Doctor Who" {The Wheel of Fortune (#2.24)} that playing the Doctor in "Doctor Who" was an unfulfilled ambition.
