Since his physical appearance has changed very little since he started his game show hosting career back in the mid-1980s, a running joke among Spaniards states that he is immortal. He finds it amusing, and as a reference he has even made a cameo in the time-traveling TV series "El ministerio del tiempo" as himself, which would imply he is a time traveler.
