Biography

Born at Leigh-on-Sea on October 12, 1937. One of the more praised devotees at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop next to Delia Derbyshire by electronic lovers worldwide. He was jazz musician, educated in piano and composition. Before he joined the BBC workshop, he was a sound mixer for the same company before reassigned to the crew at the legendary room 13. He had a high interest in reversed tape effects and brought more rhythm to the workshop than the other more mathematical creators by combining live jazz recordings into his work. He held his position in the workshop until 1974. Baker was a heavy chain-smoker at the time and died of cancer in 1997.
