Biography

A self-taught actor, musician, and writer originally from Ohio, Joey Halter grew up with a passion for music and filmmaking. Heavily influenced by the DIY spirit of the punk scene, as well as character-driven films from the likes of John Waters, John Cassavetes, and Harmony Korine, Halter's work investigates the oddities of human folly, sourced from personal insights gained through travel, avid thrift store shopping, and random people-watching. He moved to Los Angeles in 2009 in search of others who shared his passion for creation. He is perhaps best known for his role as Jerry Powell in the cult classic Jerry Powell and the Delusions of Grandeur, written and directed by friend and frequent collaborator Mike Cuenca. Halter also wrote, produced, and stars in the one-man theatre show, Apocalyptic Exodus Scenarios, as well as his web series, The Railroad Bill Show. He recently starred in the short-film, Carnal Orient, that had it's premiere at Slam Dance.
