He had breakthrough hit in 1958 with the standard "Just A Dream"(#4 US Pop).
His brother, Ike Clanton, played the bass for famed guitarist Duane Eddy ("Rebel Rouser","Cannonball", "Peter Gunn","Forty Miles Of Bad Road" ).
In 1959, he was the first to record "My Own True Love" ("Tara"s Theme" from Gone with the Wind and later the theme from TVs "Million Dollar Movie" ), reaching #33 US Pop.
Inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2007.
