Jim Corr

Jim Corr is a member of the Irish pop/rock/Celtic musical group The Corrs. The other band members are his sisters Andrea, Caroline and Sharon. The Corrs' parents were musicians who strongly encouraged each of their children to pursue music. Jim learned the piano and the guitar from an early age. By age 15, he began performing with his parents in Dundalk's bars and clubs, and he later played with the Irish traditional singer Dolores Keane. Jim briefly attended music college. Commenting on his early life growing up with his sisters, Sky Magazine has written that Jim has "the saintly resignation of a man who's experienced two decades' worth of never being able to get into the bathroom." In The Corrs band, Jim plays electric and acoustic guitars, keyboards, the accordion, and sings backing vocals. He also has a hand in producing, mixing, and editing in the studio when the band makes their albums. The Corrs first performed as a band when they auditioned to play in the musical film _The Commitments ". To date they have sold some 30 million albums. The Corrs have peformed on tour with musical acts U2, Celine Dion, and the Rolling Stones. Mick Jagger has commented "They blew us, the Stones, off our own stage". The Corrs have also appeared on Saturday Night Live, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and have made an MTV-sponsored "Unplugged" video.
