Biography

Jaikishen was born in the Gujarati-speaking Shroff family on February 1, 1957. His dad's name is Kakubhai, his brother's is Hemant, and they live in Bandra, Bombay in a bungalow named 'Le Pepeyon". A vegetarian, Jaikishen made his Bollywood debut in a bit-role as a villain in the hit _Heera Panna , and a daughter, Krishna.

Co starring Krishna Abhishek, Danny Denzongpa, Shruti Sharma, Ravi Kishen, Farha, Shakti Kapoor. Jackie was playing the role of the accused killer Haryana Inspector R.K. Sharma, who is in the Tihar jail. Shivani was found murdered in her Delhi apartment.

In 1979, Producer, Director O.P. Ralhan was making his biggest film ever " Ashoka The Great". The budget of the film was massive with a British historian working on the script. Ralhan was auditioning new faces for the title role. Jackie Shroff had sent in his picture and gave a audition for the film.The film ended up being shelved. It was finally made with Shah Rukh Khan and Santosh Sivan in 2001.

Real surname is " Saraf" that was later changed to Shroff by his father.

After Yalgaar, Feroz was toying around with several ideas for his next film. He wanted to remake his film Dharmatma as "Agnikund" with Anil Kapoor as the Godfather. Akshay Kumar and Sunil Shetty were to play his sons. Music was by Anu Malik. He earlier wanted to make the same film with himself, Anil Kapoor ,Jackie Shroff, Sri Devi and Sonam in 1987 with the title "Yalgaar". But that film was shelved due to Anil Kapoor disagreeing when Feroz Khan dropped Jackie from the film. Plus Feroz Khans mother and brother in law passed away.He later started Yalgaar with himself and Sanjay Dutt, but with a different subject and story line. Anil Kapoor refused "Agnikund" in 1994 because he did not want to play father to Akshay Kumar and Sunil Shetty. Feroz Khan had sold the audio , the overseas video and theatrical rights To Venus for 2.4 crores. Feroz Khan shelved the idea once again when the casting did not work. Feroz Khan shelved the idea once again. He then started Janasheen in 1995 with Akshaye Khanna and Mamta Kulkarni. That too got shelved so he could launch Fardeen in Prem Aggan.

One of the first articles about Jackie Shroff appeared way back in Cineblitz June 1981. This was 2 years before his first release Hero.The article was titled "Here They Come". The article also covered Arati Gupta Dalip Tahil Maureen Lestoergeon Ardhendu Bose Sofia Khan Sabita Dhanrajgir Kalpana Iyer Suresh Oberoi Deepak Parashar.

Producer Pravesh Sippy was going to remake the Hollywood hit Pretty Woman with Sri Devi and Jackie Shroff in 1991. The film got shelved.

After Rajput, Vijay Anand had planned a big budget film called Dekha Jayega (Hisaab Chukta) with Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff. Anil caused major delays and backed out at the last hour causing the film to get shelved. Vijay Anand restarted it with Jackie Shroff and Saif Ali Khan in 1994. The film was once again shelved.

Controversy broke out in 1985 when Johnny Bakshi ran a full add in the screen newspaper saying Jackie Shroff was starring in the film "Bahadur" directed by Raj Sippy. Jackie denied ever agreeing to do the film. But Sippy and Bakshi kept insisting Jackie Shroff agreed but later backed out once Shiva Ka Insaaf flopped.

After Kader Khan shelved his film Jaahil with Amitabh, Raj Sippy wanted to make the film with Jackie Shroff in 1985.

After Haathon Ki Lakheeren, Chetan Anand was going to direct a film titled "Haal E Dil with Jackie Shroff, Poonam Dhillon, Sadhana Singh.. The film got shelved when Priya Rajvansh threatened to walk out of Chetan Anands life due to Sadhana Singh. It was speculated that Chetan was paying extra attention to Sadhana.

The film " Boss " with Dons director Chandra Barot was very controversial. The film is completed and unreleased. The film stars Vinod Khanna, Jaya Pradha and Danny Denzongpa. Jackie Shroff first signed the film but was unable to shoot two songs in Kashmir due to being booked with Subhash Ghais Karma. Jeetendra next was signed but he too left the film. Vinod was later signed. Chandra Barot blamed Vinod for the film being delayed. He said Vinod was not giving dates to complete the film.

Was going to star in Vinita Goels debut film. The movie was shelved when Jackie walked out of the film.

In 1995 Jackie Shroff was co producing a movie with director Joy Augustine titled "Kanishka". It was based on the Hollywood hit The Poseidon Adventure. The plans were soon scrapped.
