Irma Serrano first made a name for herself as a singer, becoming one of the most popular ranchera performers of the 1960s. She became famous for her trademark roaring style which earned her the nickname "La Tigresa de la Canción Ranchera" .
Has a son, born in 2004 from a frozen embryo which had been created years ago from one of her eggs and the sperm of her late lover, Alejo Peralta. Her niece was the surrogate mother. Irma also tried to carry one of the embryos to term herself, but that pregnancy failed, presumably due to her age.
