Trivia

Wildly popular and handsome French leading man whose thriving film career was cut short by a fatal heart attack at age 40.

An exceedingly handsome, robust-looking gentleman, he was known for playing both heroes and heels when it came to women, playing opposite a number of incredible beauties, including wife Michle Morgan.

Because of her extra-conjugal affair with Vidal, Michle Morgan lost custody of son Mike Marshall to first husband William Marshall. Ironically, William had also been cheating on Michle with actress Micheline Presle , whom he would later marry.

Was notoriously very jealous of wife Michle Morgan and her male co-stars, particularly Jean Gabin , with whom she had previously had a brief relationship.

He battled drug addiction his whole life. His problems started in his teens when, after an attempt to escape from home, his mother began to keep him quiet by giving his some powders that he believed were at the root of his addiction. He checked into rehab ten times just during his marriage to actress Michle Morgan. His weakened physical state eventually lead to a fatal heart attack when he was only 40.

His relationship with wife Michle Morgan began on the set of Fabiola , when her marriage to first husband William Marshall was already falling to pieces. Similarly, Morgans relationship to third husband Grard Oury began on the set of Le miroir deux faces , when her marriage to Vidal was already falling apart.

After their marriage, he and Michle Morgan starred together in La belle que voil . Doing this, Michle felt a sense of uneasiness that she believed negatively affected her performance and swore that they would have never worked together again. They were actually teamed up on two later occasions: in Ltrange Madame X and Pourquoi viens-tu si tard... .
