Has been in a relationship with Jack Ashton since April 2016, having met on the set of "Call the Midwife" . Their respective characters, Nurse Trixie Franklin and Rev. Tom Hereward, were engaged in the fourth season of the series before calling it was called off. They began a real off-screen relationship while in South Africa filming "Call the Midwife" {Christmas Special (#6.0)} .
Gave birth to her first child at age 33, a daughter, Wren Ivy Ashton, three weeks early on September 28, 2017. Childs father is her boyfriend, Jack Ashton.
Was eight months pregnant with her daughter Wren when she went on maternity leave from filming the seventh season of "Call the Midwife" .
Was the second actress, the first being Bryony Hannah , to have played one of the central midwives on "Call the Midwife" and then become a mother in real life.
