Cousin of composer James Clifford Brown (1923-2004).
English character actress, on stage form the early 1940s with Harry Hansons Court Players. Usually on screen in acidulous matriarchal roles. She was a co-founder, in 1978, of Southern Exchange, a joint touring venture between Swindons Wyvern Theatre, Poole Arts Centre and the Hexagon Theatre, Reading.
