Awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Recording at 7000 Hollywood Blvd.

Mitchell had a regular role in the TV western series "Whispering Smith" , but shortly after production began he broke his arm and couldnt sing or play the guitar. Production was suspended until he recovered, but the show was cancelled before that happened.

Parents were Yugoslavian.

Bred horses on his ranch near Las Vegas.

Had number one hits with "She Wears Red feathers" , "Look At That Girl , "Singing the Blues" (1957 twice).
