British actor and writer
After openly supporting the firemens strike of 1977 by appearing on their picket lines and by writing a highly critical article in the Daily Mail, he was suspended by the editor of ITN. He resigned as an ITN newscaster in November 1977 to concentrate more on supporting the firemens cause, and on writing stage/film/TV plays and books, and researching the genealogy of the Honeycombes.
Entered radio broadcasting in Hong Kong, subsequently joining the Royal Shakespeare Company.
