Biography

An American lead actor and supporting actor, rugged and commanding Glenn Corbett's background didn't seem like it would lead to Hollywood stardom. The son of a garage mechanic, Corbett served a hitch in the Navy and later met Judy, the woman who would become his wife, while she was working at a college. With her encouragement Corbett began to get parts in campus theatricals, and it was while he was in one of these that he came to the attention of the powers-that-be at Columbia Pictures, which signed him to a contract. His film debut was in _The Crimson Kimono , up until his death in 1993 of lung cancer.

Attended Ventura College in 1956 and was elected Student Body President of the spring semester. He also was voted Best Looking.

He is buried in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.

Children with Judy: Jason Corbett (b. early 1960) and Jocelyn Corbett (b. late 1961).

May be best known to "Star Trek" fans as "Zefram Cochrane" in the episode, "Star Trek" {Metamorphosis (#2.9)} , a role which was portrayed by James Cromwell in Star Trek: First Contact , which was filmed almost 3 years after Corbetts death in 1993.
