Stage actor, for fourteen years with stock companies in San Francisco and Chicago. Entered films with Biograph, then became a leading actor/director with Thanhouser (1911-12). Subsequently with Lubin in Jacksonville, Florida, then worked variously for Keystone, Universal, Mutual and Selig. Often billed as George O. Nichols.
