Former soloist with American Ballet Theater. Stage credits include the Broadway companies of "On Your Toes", "Woman of the Year", "The Red Shoes" and "Chronicle of a Death Foretold, " as well as Mistoffelees in the LA company of "Cats."

He was offered and accepted the role of Vaslav Nijinsky in the 1980 film "Nijinsky" after Mikhail Baryshnikov repeatedly refused.

He has has taught at universities across the country, including CalArts, Connecticut College, and the University of Iowa, where he is the chair of the Department of Dance.

He has danced in ballet choreographed by Mikhail Baryshnikov, Agnes de Mille, Kenneth MacMillan, and Jerome Robbins.

George is a member of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Laboratory.
