In 1960, won two Tony Awards for "The Miracle Worker": as Best Producer and as producer of the Best Play winner. He was also Tony-nominated five other times: in 1958, as producer of Best Play nominee "Two for the Seesaw;" and then, with associate Arthur Cantor , in 1961, as producer of Best Play nominee "All the Way Home," in 1962, as Best Producer and as producer of Best Play nominee "Gideon;" and in 1963, as producer of Best Play nominee "A Thousand Clowns."
