Singer and bandleader, who started in the house band of a Chicago theatre. He formed his own band in the late 1920s and recorded for Victor, Columbia, Vocalion, Okeh and Mercury. Masters later married his vocalist, Phyllis Miles. He was perhaps better known as the composer of the popular novelty song "Scatterbrain".
