Heavyweight British character actor and playwright, the son of a doctor. On stage from 1919, he later became a noted purveyor of suave villainy in films. He was seen to good effect as an assassin in Hitchcocks The Man Who Knew Too Much . At the peak of his career, Vosper died mysteriously, falling overboard and drowning during a sea voyage from New York to England aboard the transatlantic liner "Paris".
