In 2000, after performing at the Via del Mar International Music Festival, he was given an award shaped as a seagull with open wings. In order to indulge his fans, but shockingly to the Festivals hostess, he threw the award to the audience. The hostess of the festival, shocked, urged the people to return the award, and one of the fans went on stage to give it back. However, one of its wings sharp edges had hurt a young woman in her head, and she later received medical attention.

He is a half-second cousin of American actor Steven R. McQueen. Enriques maternal great-grandfather, Jos Salgado Arrastia, was also one of Stevens paternal great-grandfathers. Enrique is also a half-first cousin, once removed, of Stevens father Chad McQueen , and of Chads sister Terry McQueen , and a great-nephew of Stevens paternal grandmother Neile Adams.
