Biography

Emma Jane Fletcher was born in London, England. She was raised by her maternal grandparents and occasionally found herself in the care of her baby-sitter, the popular Irish singer Dana. Her birth mother was a model for Christian Dior, whilst her father was a member of the band The Gobbledegooks. The band found success in the 60's with a number of chart hits and toured as support act to the legendary soul singer Dusty Springfield and also to The Rolling Stones at The Royal Albert Hall. Born into a show-business dynasty . Unfortunately Emma had to turn the role down due to a prior commitment to another acting project.

Was a PA and Runner at the BBC before attending university. Worked on various top programmes, including music programmes and science features. Also worked with childrens presenters Toby Anstis, Andi Peters and Philippa Forrester and assisted with continuity links.

Carried out a work experience placement as a graphic designer at The Economist Newspaper during university. Her work was published.

A good friend secretly entered Emma into the X Factor television show. Simon Cowell took a liking to Emma and spoke to her for almost half an hour during the audition process. He advised her to consider going to acting school, as he felt she had a good voice and said she would do well in a West End musical.

Sang at the London Premiere of the movie Never Been Kissed, which starred Drew Barrymore.

Second cousin on her mothers side is internationally renowned actor Warren Mitchell, best known for his portrayal of the bigot Alf Garnett in In Sickness and In Health and in Till Death Us Do Part.

Her father and cousin toured with the band The Gobbledegooks, who were also the support act for The Rolling Stones at The Albert Hall in London. They had a number of top ten hit records.

Graduated from Londons famous London Institute Arts School (now University of the Arts London) with an HND (Higher National Diploma); majoring in Interior Architecture and Retail & Exhibition Design and minoring in the History of Art & Design. She also has an RSA in Business Studies, a BA Honours Degree in Interior Architecture and Spatial Design with the History of Art & Design attached and a PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate of Eductaion) with specialist teaching qualifications in Art & Design and SEN (Special Educational Needs). Emma is also a graduate of the famous East 15 Acting School. She graduated in October 2006, with a PG (Post Graduate Diploma) and a MA (Masters of Arts) Degree.

Is a vegetarian.

Read books on Albert Einsteins theories when she was 12 and Sigmund Freuds Psychopathology of Everyday Life when she was 13.

Her surname Fletcher means a maker of arrows, or superintendant of archery from the French flche, an arrow. Those who practise the sport of archery use the formula Fletching an arrow when they fit its end with feathers to ensure a steady flight.

Her paternal grandparents are of Russian ancestry.

One of her closest friends at junior school was the actress and comedienne Debbie Chazen.

The competition was hosted by television personality Melanie Sykes. The Judges included Brandon Block, Beverley Bloom, Mark Bloom, Tania Bryer, Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Mark Rodol, Mandy Smith, Claudia Winkleman and Ronit Zilkha. FHMs glamor model Lucy Becker won first prize.

Cousin is LBC deejay and entrepreneur Richard Jacobs. Richard began his radio career as a Senior Producer at LBC and Talk Sport, then went on to launch NetFM, the UKs first independent radio company. Richard successfully moved on to become the Business Development Manager of WRN, the UKs leading broadcast and transmission company.

An accomplished horse-rider, at riding-school Emma used to ride a beautiful black thoroughbred stallion named Viscount, who was also the star of the Lloyds TSB television commercials.

Shortly after graduating from the East 15 Acting School, in 2007 Emma appeared in an actors showcase, in conjunction with Pinewood Studios. On stage alongside Emma was the presenter and personality Alicia Douvall and actress Samantha Smith.

Showcased work in LA in December 2007 at the Howard Fine and Margie Haber studios, with fellow actors and soap stars Richard Burke and Conor Ryan.

Emma was offered the lead roles in television commercials for All Bran Cereal and The Saturday Times and approached to star in the Minxy Bingo TV commercial. She was also offered a featured role in a music video for the band Lightspeed Champion. She had to turn all four roles down due to other acting commitments. The latter was to be filmed by director Saam Farahmand at Partizan Films, who is renowned for shooting videos for Janet Jackson.

Showcased work at Bernard Hillers famous master class in London, 2010, alongside Doctor Who and Coronation Street actress actress Elizabeth Tan.
