Biography

Dylan Merriman is an American screenwriter and film director best known for the short films Thirty K, Death Ray, Paradox, and Sad Max. Growing up an only child in a small town in Indiana, Merriman's passion for storytelling grew from a love of film and music, which gave him an opportunity to experience the world from many different perspectives. Despite his modest financial upbringing, his mother afforded him an electric guitar at the age of thirteen, and he soon became involved in the local music scene, playing shows by the age of fifteen. In 2003, Merriman earned his first work at the now defunct Midwestern movie theater chain The Great Escape Theaters. He worked as a film projectionist for five years as a part of one of the last generations of commercial celluloid film projection. Throughout the late 2000s, Merriman spent the majority of his time working as a manager and projectionist at The Great Escape Theater, writing and directing short films, and playing music with various bands. In 2014, after years of creating film and music content, he was the recipient of the Legacy Scholarship at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. Dylan continues to write, direct, and compose for film.
