Biography

Douglas Dean is an English actor. He compiled a long list of theatre credits, including UK tours, repertory theatre, Shakespeare festivals and TIE before making his television debut in an episode of the acclaimed HBO series 'Rome'. Based in Italy since 2003 he has racked up further film and television credits in both his native English, as well as in Italian. Career highlights to date include a leading role in Terry Gilliam's 'The Wholly Family', which won Best Short at the 2011 European Film Awards, as well as several other accolades. He played the lead role in 'The Imago', written and directed by Emiliano Galigani, which won Best Production at the Manchester Film Festival in 2015, and appeared as the shifty Aquilani in 'Medici-Masters of Florence'. In Italian he has worked with established actors such as Pierfrancesco Favino and Ennio Fantastichini in 'Qualunque Cosa Succeda' and 'La Strada Dritta' respectively. Dean is in demand as a voiceover artist, and has narrated a number of award-winning documentaries. He is also a sports commentator, specializing in Italian football . A lover of theatre, Dean tries to direct one play a season, he also teaches classes for both adults and teenagers at a theatre in Rome. He can be contacted via his agent, Simone Oppi.
