Biography

Donald Raymond Waller was born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania on August 12th, 1956. At an early age he had a keen interest in art, drawing and sculpture. Don's interest in animation and special visual effects were sparked by seeing Ray Harryhausen's film "Mysterious Island," when he was six years old. After high school, Don attended The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, where he took courses in photography. He was hired at an Animation Studio called "The Animators," in Pittsburgh, in 1977 and worked there until 1980, when he was hired by an ad illustration/animation studio in Waterloo, Iowa, called "Hellman Associates." He worked there until 1986, when he made the move to Los Angeles, to work as a freelance animator. Since moving to LA, Don has had the opportunity of meeting and working with many of his film industry heroes from his childhood. He has had a very diverse career, animating in various techniques, such as hand drawn 2-D, stop motion and computer generated animation. He continues to work in the field of computer generated visual effects.
