Biography

A Los Angeles native, Dick Darley graduated from Los Angeles High School before enlisting in the US Navy during WW II. Afterwards he attended the University of Southern California, majoring in radio production, and later worked for an experimental TV station before joining ABC Television in Hollywood. From 1950 to 1955 he directed the live early sci-fi TV series _"Space Patrol" is also a television director.

Darley, also helmed the first season of The Mickey Mouse Club in 1955.

Darley guided the live sci-fi series Space Patrol from its start as a daily kids show broadcast from L.A. station KECA-TV (now KABC) in 1950 to its expansion as a half-hour nationally televised show on ABC. It made history as the first regular live West Coast morning network program beamed to the East Coast.
