British journalist, comedian, writer and media personality, born 7 April 1939 in Tenterden, Kent, England, UK, died 31 August 2013 on board the MS Queen Elizabeth.
He was awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in 1970 and knighthood of the British Empire in the 1993 Queens New Years Honors List for his services to broadcasting and journalism.
