Father of Amanda McBroom

Father-in-law of George Ball.

Lean, haunted-looking American second lead, under contract to Warner Brothers from 1940. Best known for his role in The Mad Ghoul , he found decent roles hard to come by, after many of the bigger stars returned from wartime duties. He stuck around for several more years, appearing in B-movies for Universal before retiring in 1956.

Graduated from Northwestern University.

Bruces brief stardom and fall from it is the subject of "Errol Flynn", a song by his daughter, Amanda McBroom ( The Rose ). Bruce costarred in three Errol Flynn films, The Sea Hawk , Santa Fe Trail , and Adventures of Don Juan . Hence the lyric, "But he held my hand tight as he pointed his name out/Only four or five names down below Errol Flynn".
